What is a metal razor?
Before the plastic razors we know today, people used a safety razor. Until the 17th century, straight razors were used so people had to be shaved by experienced barbers. Then the safety razor came along, and it got much easier for people to do their own shaving. It really started to gain mass popularity in the 20th century, when it became possible to change its double-edged blade.

Composition
100% brass! Brass is corrosion-proof. Solid and resistant, it is perfect to create long-lasting metal razors. Brass ensures a perfectly weighted balance that will help you achieve a close and smooth shave. It is important to note that brass does not contain nickel initially. Still, there could be traces of it, so watch out and do the test if you are allergic to nickel.

One Blade
Single-use plastic products' introduction into the market led to them invading our homes and, especially, our bathrooms. The competition sparked between the leading razor manufacturers, who started differentiating their products by adding more and more blades. However, more blades does not necessarily mean a better shave. Skin irritations and cuts are caused by the blades passing over the skin, which worsens with the number of blades. Therefore, single-blade razors are less harmful to the skin and reduce the risk of pain after shaving. Moreover, replacement razor heads with multiple blades are often much more expensive than double-edged blades. As a result, people tend to use them too long, even when they are dull. This is a bad habit because dull blades are prone to irritate the skin and create ingrown hairs and shaving bumps. Since single blades are much cheaper, they help you take care of your skin because you can change them as soon as they start to wear out.

Impact
Single-use plastic has invaded our bathroom! Over time, we have become used to the fact that most of our bathroom products contain plastic. However, this material is rarely fully recyclable. For example, if a shampoo bottle is not disposed of properly, it can take up to 500 years to decompose. The environmental impact is even worse with products like disposable razors. They cannot be recycled, as the metal is embedded in plastic. So, all this plastic is burned or ends up in nature. There is cause for concern when you consider that a person who shaves almost every day with plastic razors will use about 2,400 razors in their lifetime!

It is very difficult to recycle styrofoam.

Most counties simply do not offer styrofoam recycling and thus plastic cutlery that is put into a recycling bin is usually just sorted out at the recycling facility and sent to a landfill.

We don't want to be part of that, right?
